What is FTTP?

Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) is a full-fibre broadband solution that can offer incredibly fast broadband speeds.

FTTP is a fibre connection that connects from the exchange, in to your business. Because of this direct connection FTTP can offer much more speeds compared to products such as FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet).

FTTP vs FTTC

  • FTTC can offer download speeds up to 80Mb/s, whereas FTTP can offer download speeds of up to 1Gbp/s. FTTC is slower because this uses a mixture of copper and fibre to deliver your broadband connection.
  • FTTP is also considered far more reliable than the alternatives as reported by BT.
  • Unlike FTTC, FTTP is a data-only, meaning that you do not pay separately for line rental.

It is worth noting that because of the PSTN withdrawal, FTTC Broadband will soon be replaced by SOGEA Broadband. If customers user there landline to make calls they will need to upgrade to an internet based phone solution such as VoIP.

What speeds are available with FTTP?

FTTP can offer download speeds of up to 1000Mb/s and upload speeds of up to 115Mb/s on the Openreach network.

We can also provide FTTP Business Broadband via the CityFibre network. This means customers can now get up to 900Mbps symmetrical speeds FTTP from us.
