Openreach to cut wholesale costs from July 1st

Openreach has announced it will voluntarily cut wholesale costs to Vodaphone, Sky and TalkTalk after the UK telecoms regulator Ofcom said earlier in the year it planned to force the company to reduce it’s prices.

The new charges will take effect from July 1st.

Ofcom will still be consulting on future charges which will determine the prices that can be charged from April 1st 2018.

What this means for your business

Openreach owns and operates the infrastructure which the majority of retail internet suppliers rely upon so it is important that it is held to account. Obviously any reduction in prices is welcome, although ultimately we don’t anticipate big reductions to consumers on the back of this.
