Majority of businesses not ready for GDPR

A wide range of independent studies have come in, indicating that businesses are not currently compliant for GDPR, and in a significant number of cases they won’t be compliant once the regulations come into force on 25th May 2018.

Despite this, and the severe penalities potentially applicable – 20 million euros or 4% of annual turnover, whichever is the greatest – nearly half of those polled said that GDPR was not a priority.

What this means to you

Whilst many SMEs may think that ‘big businesses’ will be the initial target for any investigation, bear in mind that should you suffer a data breach your business will suddently be in the spotlight as you are obliged to report this within 72 hours.

If you haven’t already started the process, you should start looking at GDPR as a priority.
